U.S. Is Running Out Of Oil, Or Are We

This week on Tuesday the President interrupted primetime to talk to the nation about the horrible oil spill in the Gulf. The effort outlined assured the people of the U.S. that extraordinary efforts were being made to take control of the situation and protect the environment.  The second major point was all about assuring the citizens of the U.S. that BP (the oil company which owned the deep sea drill) would be footing the bill.

Now, there are always factual mistakes in speeches.  I wouldn't want to correct mistakes for the point of being vindictive or just to simply be argumentative but rather to just be sure the influence of misrepresented facts is minimized within my circle of influence.  The one misrepresented fact that bothered me the most wasn't the problem I had with the moratorium on off shore drilling (understand that Obama is not stopping current production but only stopping any new but approved efforts). I was bothered by the fact that Obama claimed "we are running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water."

Are we really running out of places to drill on land and in shallow water?
